Brand Identity

Brand Identity

Bold, recognisable identities built on a decision rather than a mood board

A brand identity is not a logo and a palette. It is the shortest possible answer to what a company is for, made visible — a mark, a voice and a set of rules that hold up on a shopfront, a spreadsheet and a phone screen, and that a team can keep using without us in the room.

Why it matters

Identity is the first thing a customer meets and the last thing they forget. Before a word of your copy is read, the shape of the thing has already told somebody what kind of company you are and how much you charge. Getting that right is the cheapest advantage available to a small company, and getting it wrong costs money in every channel at once.

Our approach

We start with the decision, not the sketchbook: two workshops that end in one sentence everybody in the business can say out loud. Design routes come next, early and rough, because a position that cannot be drawn is a position that will not survive. Then we narrow, refine and document until the system is boring to explain — which is how you know it will still be in use in three years.

Perfect for

Companies with a real proposition and no consistent way of showing it: seed-stage software teams, independent makers, studios and agencies, and established businesses whose identity was assembled rather than designed.
