Brand Strategist

Position:
Brand Strategist
Location:
Germany
Type:
Contract / Freelance

We are looking for a Brand Strategist who can turn a founder's twenty minutes of enthusiasm into one sentence a whole company can repeat. You will run the discovery that every other discipline in the studio builds on, and you will be the person in the room who says the position is not specific enough yet.

You will work alongside designers and writers from the first workshop to the final guidelines, rather than handing a document over the wall — because a position that cannot be drawn is a position that will not survive.

Key responsibilities

  • Run discovery workshops with founders and leadership teams, and leave each one with a decision rather than a summary.
  • Turn research, interviews and category audits into a position that can be stated in a single sentence.
  • Write messaging frameworks, naming routes and tone-of-voice guidance that designers can actually work from.
  • Sit in design reviews and hold the work to the position, including when the position is the thing that needs to move.
  • Define what success looks like before the project starts, and go back and measure it afterwards.

Required

  • Three or more years positioning brands, in an agency, a studio or in-house.
  • Evidence that you can write short. Long strategy documents are easy; one sentence is not.
  • Comfort running a room of senior people who disagree with each other.
  • Enough visual literacy to tell a designer why a route misses the position, in terms they can act on.

Life at Obliq Studio

Life at Obliq Studio is built around a culture of creativity, clarity and craftsmanship. We operate with a clear, structured workflow that removes chaos and gives you the space to produce your best work. You will collaborate with designers, engineers, strategists and writers who treat every project as a story that needs emotion, intention and technical precision in equal measure.

We value trust over micromanagement. The studio is remote-friendly, the calendar is deliberately thin, and the work spans SaaS, ecommerce, hospitality, arts and culture — so no two quarters look the same. Your ideas are welcome, your craft decisions are respected, and nobody is asked to defend a good decision twice.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary with a published band and a yearly review.
  • Remote-friendly hours, with two overlapping days a week for reviews.
  • A budget for tools, conferences and whatever you are teaching yourself this year.
  • Work on visually rich international projects across several industries.
  • Structured handovers, written briefs and no unnecessary meetings.
  • Regular craft reviews that are about the work rather than the person.

How to apply

Send a portfolio, a short note about a project you would do differently now, and anything you have made that nobody asked you to make. We read everything, we reply to everyone, and the process is three conversations and one paid exercise.
